This event will be chaired by Gabriela Matečná, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of Slovakia (pictured). Slovakia currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Council is due to discuss and endorse a package of support measures to be unveiled by Commissioner Hogan at the meeting.  This will follow a presentation by the Commission to the Council of Ministers on the market situation for dairy, pigmeat and fruit and vegetables sectors. It is thus likely that these are the areas to benefit form the supports announced.

The Commission will also update the Council on the first year of implementation of greening measures in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). This will include an outlining of the results of a public consultation exercise. Ministers will have an exchange of views on related simplification proposals.
