Implementing animal welfare through the new EU strategy: consumers’ empowerment and market opportunities
Event details
Organised by: European Commission and the Danish Presidency of the EU
The initiative aims to present the Commisison strategy and to raise consumers’ empowerment on animal welfare. The event will offer the possibility to analyse the opportunities given by the market driven approach, to reinforce the implementation of the current animal welfare legislation and to present the latest developments in animal welfare research and sciences.
This strategy is a continuation of the policies elaborated in previous 5 years Community Action Plan on the protection and welfare of animals, approaching unitarily for the first time existing EU animal welfare standards.
The conference brings together a broad range of participants from national and international representatives, veterinarians, farmers, producers, retailers, academics, scientists and NGO representatives.
