‘Mir hams satt!’ – 8,ooo demonstrate in Munich

On Saturday July 13th, around 8,000 people including consumers, beekeepers, dariy farmers and young activists for good food and good farming  gathered in the Bavarian capital – Munich – for a day of action: ‘Mir hams satt!’

The event was organised by the team behind the huge demonstration that took place in Berlin in January – Wir haben es satt (We are fed up). Mir hams satt is the Bavarian spin on this.

The event kicked off at 11am at Odeonsplatz with speeches and presentations from a number of leading actors in the food movement in Germany including Hubert Weiger, Cheif Executive of Bund Umwelt und Naturschutz (Friends of the Earth Germany), Romuald Schaber, Head of the deutscher Milchviehhalter e.V. (the German Milk Board) and Ursula Hudson, Chair of Slow Food Deutschland.

At 12.30, the demonstration set off, tractors in tow, on its way towards the State Chancellery.

The action comes as German politicians gear up for the general election taking place this September.
