A series of short films are being released in the run-up to London’s International Permaculture Conference and Convergence, #IPCUK, which starts with a two-day conference on September 8 and 9. Living with the Land, with an introduction by Colin Tudge of the Campaign for Real Farming,  features tenant farmer Rebecca Hosking and Tim Green, her business partner: together they are regenerating 175 acres (73 hectares) of exhausted soils in southwest Devon.
They are  using holistic planned grazing to return fertility to soils that have been exhausted by relentless arable farming. “Holistic planned grazing is all about mimicking the natural migration of a wild herd across the landscape. This is the fastest way to build soil fertility on a large scale,” explains Hosking, who packs a lot of good sense into a five-minute film.
