Transport conditions for animals

During tomorrow’s EU Parliament’s Agriculture Committee meeting, the issue of better protection of animals during transport will be discussed. In an own-initiative report, which comes as a response to the Commission’s evaluation of currently applied rules, Agriculture Committee MEPs will call to improve transport conditions for animals in the EU and cut transport times. According to the EU Parliament Press Unit, measures to shorten food supply chains and halt the decline of small, local abattoirs (so as to avoid unnecessarily long transport) will also be discussed.

Other topics on the agenda include the Microbial Challenge – Rising threats from Antimicrobial Resistance.
