Irish Ambassador to the EU on the CAP

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Trilogue negotiations kicked off on April 11 and last till Monday 22nd April,  Agriculture ministers met in Brussels and were briefed by the Irish EU presidency on the state of talks with MEPs on this topic. Thirty meetings are scheduled until June, when the Farm Council will meet in Luxembourg on the 24th and 25th.

In the latest video from EU policy broadcaster – viEUws – European Affairs journalist, Peter O’Donnell is joined by Tom Hanney, Irish Ambassador to the EU, to discuss the CAP deal. Among some of the key differences remaining, he mentions sugar quotas, capping and double payments. Watch the full video here:
