viEUws, the EU broadcaster, has released a topical Brussels Briefing on Agriculture, which deals with the following topics:
- The Long-Term Agriculture Budget and possible budget cuts
- Stabilizing the EU Food Market
- Impact of drought in the US & Russia on the global food system
In terms of the budget, it outlines that cuts in the EU budget are now inevitable across the board. This means that allocation to Pilar 1 and 11 of the CAP will also see changes. Although there are no figures yet, in the lead up to the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council on November 22nd, the next time the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) will be discussed, it is important to take note of the way in which the budget seems to be going.
